Before you order

  • Confirm your bulb size and factory headlight package.
  • Some vehicles may require CANBUS or anti-flicker modules.
  • Some LED/HID upgrades may be intended for off-road, show, auxiliary, or permitted-use applications only. Check local laws before using upgraded forward lighting on public roads.

Morimoto Elite HID System

A complete HID upgrade, not just a pair of bulbs.

The Morimoto XB35/XB55 Elite HID kit is built as a system: bulbs, ballasts, igniters, wiring support, and optional vehicle electronics all working together to produce strong, controlled light in the right applications.

Start here

Which parts do you actually need?

The Morimoto Elite HID kit brings together the core parts that make an HID conversion feel complete: premium HID bulbs, compact ballasts, clean wiring support, and the component choices needed to build the system around your vehicle.

The advantage is not just brighter light. It is a matched HID system with stronger startup behavior, clean color options, and support for vehicles that may need relay, anti-flicker, or CANBUS help.

Morimoto XB HID ballast and wiring components

XB35 vs XB55

Choose output level before choosing accessories

The XB35/35W setup is the standard recommendation for most HID conversions. It is closer to OEM HID power levels, runs cooler, and is the safer default when reliability and compatibility matter most.

The XB55/50W upgrade is for customers chasing maximum output. It can produce more light, but it also runs the system harder and can affect the way a color temperature looks once installed.

BRI Source note: 35W kits are generally the best starting point for most projector low beams and fog applications. Choose 50W only when the application, housing, and wiring setup make sense for the extra output.

Power and wiring

The relay harness keeps the HID system fed correctly

HID ballasts need stable power at startup. A relay harness lets the factory headlight signal trigger the system while the ballasts receive power directly from the battery through the harness.

This helps avoid overloading old or sensitive factory headlight wiring, and it gives the HID system a cleaner electrical foundation.

Why this matters: Many HID problems come from weak power, poor grounds, or factory circuits that were not designed to supply HID ballast startup current. Good wiring is not the flashy part of the kit, but it is often what makes the setup reliable.

CANBUS and anti-flicker

Use the electronics your vehicle actually needs

Some vehicles pulse, dim, or monitor the headlight circuit. That can cause flicker, flashing, startup issues, or bulb-out warnings when an HID kit is installed.

Anti-flicker capacitor links smooth pulsed power signals. CANBUS-style harnesses help when the vehicle needs warning-light or error-canceling support. The right choice depends on how the vehicle controls the headlight circuit.

Simple rule: Do not add parts just to add parts. Some trucks and late-model PWM headlight circuits need anti-flicker support, while monitored circuits may need CANBUS support. If you are not sure, ask before ordering.

Mopar note: Some 2015+ Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles can be especially sensitive to HID upgrades. If your vehicle falls into that group, review the Morimoto Mopar-Spec Elite HID Kit before ordering a standard HID kit.

Morimoto HID color temperature comparison

Color selection

Pick color for usable output, not just appearance

Warm/OEM-style colors are usually best for bad weather and maximum usable output. Neutral white is the most popular balance for a modern look. Cooler white options add more blue tint, but higher Kelvin choices usually trade away some intensity.

If you choose the XB55/50W ballast upgrade, the same bulb color can appear slightly different than it would on a 35W setup because the bulb is being driven harder.

Color note: Actual color can vary by projector, reflector, lens condition, ballast wattage, voltage, and break-in time. HID bulbs should be replaced in pairs for the closest color match.

H11A and H11B HID bulb return-wire orientation comparison

Bulb orientation

H11A vs H11B matters for beam shape

HID bulbs use a return wire. If that wire ends up in the wrong position inside the headlight, it can create a shadow or dark spot in the beam pattern.

H11A/H11B and H7A/H7B options let the HID return wire sit in a cleaner position for the housing. Proper orientation helps keep the beam smooth instead of placing the return wire in the light path.

Orientation note: Review the H11A vs H11B / H7A vs H7B guide for a quick explanation of return-wire direction and housing style.

Install planning

Test first, tidy second

Plan the ballast location, igniter location, grounds, dust cap pass-through, and harness routing before locking everything down. On many vehicles, the dust cap needs a clean pass-through so the HID bulb wiring can route out of the housing while still sealing correctly with the supplied grommet.

After the kit is connected, test both sides before final zip ties and wire cleanup. Good grounds and fully seated connectors are critical.

Install tip: If a capacitor link or ground wire is used, make sure the ground point is clean bare metal. Paint, corrosion, and loose bolts can create intermittent HID problems.

Included2 HID bulbs, 2 ballasts, 2 igniters, and HID wiring support based on selected options.
Ballast ChoiceXB35/35W for most HID builds. XB55/50W for maximum output where the vehicle and wiring setup support the higher-wattage option.
Color OptionsWarmer/OEM white for all-weather usability, neutral white for a modern look, cooler white for more blue tint.
ElectronicsRelay harness, anti-flicker, and CANBUS options should be selected based on the vehicle circuit.
Best UseHalogen projector headlights, projector fog lights, and HID conversion builds.
Warranty5-year limited manufacturer warranty with XB35/35W. 3-year limited manufacturer warranty with the XB55/50W option.

Color and output guidance

Choose the setup for how you actually drive

Morimoto Elite HID kits are built for strong, usable output with a premium HID conversion system. Warmer HID colors generally work better in poor weather, neutral white is the most popular modern look, and cooler white options add more blue tint.

The XB35/35W setup is the best starting point for most customers. The XB55/50W option is for maximum output applications where the housing, wiring, and install plan support the extra power.

Warranty support

Morimoto manufacturer warranty

Morimoto Elite HID systems are backed by Morimoto's limited manufacturer warranty: 5 years with the XB35/35W setup, or 3 years when the XB55/50W option is selected. Warranty eligibility, coverage, and final approval are based on Morimoto's current warranty terms and the selected kit configuration.

When you purchase from BRI Source, we can help start the warranty process and connect your order information with the manufacturer if support is needed. Keep your order details and photos or video of the issue available for the fastest review.

Before you order

Confirm the vehicle setup first

Choose the bulb size, wattage, return-wire orientation, and wiring support that match your vehicle's headlight system. Some vehicles may require CANBUS support, anti-flicker modules, relay wiring, or vehicle-specific troubleshooting.

HID upgrades may be intended for off-road, show, auxiliary, or permitted-use applications only depending on the vehicle, product, and local laws. Check local laws before using upgraded forward lighting on public roads.

Use the Shop by Vehicle tool, review the Morimoto installation guides, or contact BRI Source support for setup help before ordering.
